Its taken me some days to digest what happened with the article. Im still at a loss for words.
Im glad that part of all this is over. The buildup of strain and tension in my life was way past unbearable. Im glad that they finally gave me some relief and printed the stupid thing, even if I agree that it is somewhat biased. And not in our favor, I might add.
For some reason, the Post doesnt let you do a search for my name or his, even though it was on Sundays front page. You all should do a Google search on Rodn*ey Linco*ln (remove the stars) and it will link you to the page in the Pos*t-Dispa*tch.
Good things have come out of this. A friend from 14 years ago, Julie, contacted me through my diary. We all know Missys memory sucks, but she has helped me to remember some very funny things that we did together! She really is a sweetheart.
My friend Amy, from 11 years ago, contacted me through my diary. Both girls did so after reading the article. I am thrilled!
My friend Mark, who retired a year or so ago, saw the article and emailed me that its a shame that someone hasnt shanked Rodn*ey in prison yet. Well, you can bet its because hes lived in isolation all this time.
Im finding the last few days that Im very tired. Very worn out. Cant get enough sleep. Each night I crash exhausted into bed and find it hard to get up each morning.
Last night I did dream, which is a good thing. I dont remember what it was about, but thats okay.
At least Im sleeping deep enough to dream.
Its the sleep of the relieved, I guess.
The best sleep Ill ever get is the night I found out Rodne*y has finally died. Thats the only way Ill ever sleep soundly again.
I got cramps. Im not a happy camper.
In other news, my niece survived the hurricane. Mel lives in Miami. She did not evacuate for Hurricane Wilma. I finally talked to her after a few days of calling and getting no answer.
What you hear is true. 98% of Miami is without power. Where Mel lives, her landlord has a generator and its on for so many hours a day. During that time, the refrigerator runs and the phone works. But once he disconnects for the night, there is nothing and it is pitch black. They have some candles and some food, but she says it is very boring. Thats when Id be pulling out that old Monopoly board, if I were her.
Melody said that the wind was very strong. Mel said the storm was loud and hellacious. She said it was very scary.
Pieces of fence and metal gates were swirling in the air and flying down the street. Huge trees were uprooted and tossed about. Stray dogs and cats were ducking for cover wherever they could find it.
Her husband wanted to go outside and check on his car. She blocked him and said, Ill FIGHT you if I HAVE to! You are not going out there! I thought that was pretty funny.
She also told me about a point when the wind got very strong. She said that the storm was trying to suck the window AC unit out and she and her husband were inside trying to hold onto it. The visuals I got from that alone had me in hysterics. Eventually, the wind started to die down. And later, the storm passed Miami.
They wont get power back for a while.
I cannot get her mother; my sister Melinda, on the phone to let her know Melody is okay. I KNOW she is freaked out. And she cant really do a durn thing when she is in Italy. Its not like she can take a Greyhound to Miami to see if she can help out.
Sigh.
