Go back one to see the photo of the guy from Biloxi. It is too, too sad.
Well, folks, I shouldve learned my lesson two years ago when I last took out a payday loan. I got really burned in that situation. See, I took out a payday loan in late March. Early April, I got laid off. See, I had no money to pay off this loan. It got ugly!
Two years later, this summer, I found myself not getting child support in the amount required or on time. I fell behind.
Fast forward to last week. I realized I was going to be a couple of hundred short in my rent. I thought back to a few days earlier when I saw that someone had been evicted from my complex, Happy Smurf Village.
I did not want to end up like that.
My reserves had run dry. Rene wasnt giving out money. He really is my only hope. Yesterday I asked him for some money to get me through the week and he gave me $3.00.
I admit, I suck with money. Im terrible at managing it. But it would help me out an awful lot if I can EVER depend on the child support. If I wouldve gotten my child support for September I wouldnt have had to go to the payday lender.
As it is, we have some milk, some biscuits, some ramen noodles and 4 microwave chicken dinners in the fridge. But that will get us through!
The payday place, called www.paydayconnection.com, seemed innocent enough. It was a little tough to get them to come through with the cash. I had to fax a copy of my bank statement to them.
They emailed me the application.
I filled it out, believing I had read everything there was to read.
I faxed it back.
The very next day, money was deposited into my account. The finance charge, $120.00 was a little steep but I didnt feel like I had a choice.
Now, the money was in my account so my rent would be paid. I have $1.50 to my name, but my rent will be paid. Or so I thought.
This morning, I just pulled out the agreement so that I could find a phone number so that on Friday, the day I get paid, I can call and pay off the loan and finance charge.
Thats when stupid me realized there was some small print.
The finance charge of $120.00 will come out on the 7th, tomorrow, which makes no sense because these people knew I was not getting paid until the 10th. The double whammy is that my rent check might bounce, because I only have enough in there to cover my rent. I called the apartment manager to see if she could hold the check until I had enough funds, but it had been deposited this morning.
Oh, and tomorrow (Not Friday), the finance charge will be renewed until my next payday. So they are going to get $120.00 from me twice, plus the loan amount.
I am so dumb. And so angry.
I will pay it all off, but I am mad as hell.
This is how people get in debt and stay in debt.
Read the small print people. Dont be a big dummy like me!
