Well, its been a few days since I last wrote. A lot has happened. The biggest being that my little sweet pea is home! I admit I always worry her Dad will do something stupid like try to keep her, especially as she grows older and he finds that he is missing out on more and more in her life.
He is still on his campaign to get me to move to Oregon. I dont think Uranus understands that I just cannot leave a good job or the life weve built here. If I was to move anywhere it would be to Kansas. As it is, I am 4 hours away from my baby sister and she needs me, and if I moved that far away Id never see her.
Id miss Lisa dearly. If I left it would be quite like someone cut my hand off. And Jackies only true friend is Jacob. I cannot imagine separating them.
Jackie tells me that Oregon was not that fun. I was disappointed because she did a lot of very fun things while there, like camping and fishing and visiting the coast of Oregon in a motorhome! It seems that while she loves visiting her Dad and his family, its not home. I hope that as time goes on she becomes more comfortable there. I dont know about her Dad but the rest of his family is quite loving and expressive about it!
Well, Jackie has been adjusting to being back home and two hours earlier than shes used to. She had some pretty severe jet lag and pretty much laid around for a few days. The incredible scorching heat outside certainly didnt help.
Jackie also picked up a few behaviors that even I, the laid back Mom, dont like. Mainly, its farting in peoples faces. She never did that here, but its happened twice since she got back home.
There are other things, but I hope that as time goes by and I keep letting her know that certain things are not okay, fade away.
Being at the airport was nerve-wracking. I couldnt figure out for the life of me why there was no one working behind the desk at United Airlines. Of course it was eveningmaybe that explains it.
I did hit the Starbucks counter. I had a vanilla bean Frappucino!
Lisa bought some magazines to pass the time by. That was very nice of her!
Jake was bored. What kid wouldnt be? The airport is boring for a kid.
We inched closer and closer to the area where people getting off flights as time went by. We were getting increasingly frustrated because multiple flights were coming through. Finally, Lisa asked this lady on a hunch, what flight she was coming from. The lady told her Denver and then Lisa asked her if shed seen a little blonde headed girl on the plane. She said yes, shed seen Jacquelyn and that she was sitting a few feet from her.
We cried from relief. Me, with my Aunt Flo hormones and Lisa with her PMS. It was funny.
Finally, there was Jackie. I thought I wouldnt cry but a was like, HI, BOO! and I was bawling!
The airline lost Jackies backpack with her asthma medicine in it in Denver. The really nice guy from United took us down to their desk, which surprisingly, was open. They located Jackies backpack in Denver and even stranger; the flight out of Denver was delayed, so they put the backpack on that flight.
The lady behind the counter told me theyd send a courier out to my place a little after midnight with the backpack.
The kids chatted like magpies in the car. Because of all the delays, we didnt get home from the airport until a little before 11.
Lisa and Jake stayed for a little while, but eventually had to go. And then, the wait started. I had the hardest time keeping my eyes open! At 12:43 a.m., United Airlines called and said they had Jackies backpack. The lady on the phone told me that shed called a cab and hed be out to my house within the hour.
My foot.
The guy got lost!
At 2:20 a.m., the backpack was safely in my arms.
We could now go to sleep.
Saturday, Jackie and I woke up around noon. We got dressed and went over to Lisas to do laundry. The kids played.
The rest of Saturday was a lazy day.
Sunday, Lisa, Doug and Jake took me and Jacq to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I actually felt this version was less dark than the original. But it was good!
The rest of Sunday was hot as blazes. Jake came home with us and they spent a couple of hours playing.
Sunday night, Rene came by and picked me and Jackie up and took us out for ice cream. He also gave me $200.00 to send to my sister Renee.
Monday was work. And it was hot again. This was our 5th straight day of 100 plus degree temperatures. I wired Renee $400.00 ($200.00 of my money and $200.00 of Renes) on Western Union online. The last I talked to her the situation was getting pretty desperate. Still hadnt found a place to live!
Sunday night I took Jackie to Dennys for dinner. When it came time later in the evening to go to bed, I practically had to peel Jackie off the ceiling, she was so hyper. We finally got to bed around midnight.
Yesterday, we got up at our usual time. But I was off work.
We went and picked Jacob up at his Dads and headed over to Lisas. I had forgotten to call and wake her up, so it took her a few minutes to get going.
We took the kids out to breakfast at IHOP. After that, we went to Target to get school supplies. That took forever and a year. Im just glad they had good prices.
After that, it was off to Marshalls. I found Jackie a cute outfit for her first day of school. We did some other shopping. Jackie picked out a Fantastic Four backpack.
After that, we went out to Burger King because after that Jackie had an allergist appointment and we didnt know how long it would be before the kids would eat.
They didnt eat much.
To torture the kids further, we decided to go to the Marshalls by the allergist office.
There, I found Jackie a pair of Fubu sneakers for $10.00.
We were off to the allergists. Thank God it was easy to find and parking was reasonable because it was hot!!
Jackies test didnt take too long. I was educated a lot in a couple of hours about allergies. Turns out Ive been going about all of this all wrong. More on that at another time.
Jackie is bigtime allergic to cat hair. Also, dust and dust mites were a big one. And mouse. We have gerbils, which are close cousins of mice. Crap.
They changed Jackies medication too.
After we left the allergists office we headed over to Walgreens so Lisa could pick up some ramen noodles and her prescriptions.
Then, we went by Oberweiss to get the kids shakes and of course get us moms something sweet too. I had a Cappuccino! It was yummy.
By the time this was all done, we were beat!
Still, when we got home, Jackie convinced me to take her swimming. I only lasted hour before becoming overheated.
All in all, it was a good day!
And now, some pictures:
This is my mom when she was in her twenties!
This is me, my sister Melinda, my sister Renee and my mom about 4-5 months before the attack. Why the picture is centered right is beyond me.
This is me, my Grandma and my sister Renee, about 5 months after the attack. If you notice me (in red), my dress juts out to the side. That is because Im wearing a colostomy bag. Thanks to Rodney for tearing up my insides and making that necessary.
Fast forward: The reason Im xnavygrrl: left to right. Ken, my 2nd boyfriend out of boot camp, me, my best friend Eric and a girl whose name I dont even remember. I was 20 years old. San Diego, California, 1995:
This is my baby when she was 2 days old. Seems like yesterday.
My baby, when she did the Harley Davidson photo shoot. I think she was almost 5:
Isnt she beautiful?
