I had a very busy weekend. I am exhausted.
Preparing for Jackies birthday party is going to take up every spare minute and sap all of my energy. Times like this, I wish I had a partner. Someone to share the load, you know.
Friday after work, I went to 4 stores looking for a steam cleaner. It seems like no one makes the Hoover SteamVacs anymore. If they do, its the new expensive ones. I felt for that price, I could go ahead and buy the Bissell ProHeat. Too bad everyone was out of the Proheats, or else, they wanted $180.00 for them. Im not about to pay that when I still got food to buy for Jackies party.
I went to K-Mart, Target, and Big Lots. My last stop was at Value City. My prize was a Bissell ProHeat. It was the last one, a display model with no price tag.
I snatched that baby up and took her to the courtesy counter. The people there was so nice, everyone pitched in to find a price or the box. Finally, it was found. My remanufactured model cost me $120.00. I was so happy.
I picked Jackie up from school and we did some running around to different places. I wasnt feeling too great, must be a touch of the flu. But I popped some Tylenol Flu and felt better.
I took Jackie to Toys R Us to get her new bike. She was thrilled. Too bad we couldnt put that sucker in the trunk. It was too big!! So, she shared the back seat with the bike.
After we did all that, we came home and waited for Lisa and Jacob to come over. Jackie rode her bike around the parking lot. I could tell she felt great about being able to ride again. She hadnt had a bike since it got broken when my sister and her kids were visiting in September.
When Lisa and Jacob got there, we visited outside for a little while.
Now, Dax has had nothing to do with Jackie for weeks. However, while Jackie was outside playing with Jacob, Dax and his friend Jacob stood up on their porch trying to get Jackies attention. Jackie didnt hear them calling her, and Lisa and me chose not to say anything.
I could do without the drama, you know.
We went to eat at Dennys. Did you know that on Wednesdays and Saturdays kids eat free? Me neither. Saturday night, Jackie and I went grocery shopping. After that we popped into Dennys because I was too tired to cook. I got the check and noticed that while Jackies meal was on there, no price was notated. I called the waitress over and showed her, trying to be discreet so I wouldnt get her in trouble. She informed me of the new kids eat free days. I had to say something, because my conscience wouldve driven me nuts otherwise.
Back at Friday night, Lisa and I caught up on everything. I have really missed her. As usual she misbehaved at the restaurant. I cant take that girl anywhere!!
While we chatted, the kids fought. Jackie was really hyper, and I dont think Jake liked that. Jackies behavior to Jake indicated to me that she has a crush on him. She even grabbed his cheek, quite the same way your crazy Aunt Mildy would grab yours.
See, she never did that sort of stuff to Dax.
Poor Jake. Hes going to be a hit with the ladies.
After eating, we went to Marshalls so that I could get Jackie and outfit for her birthday party on Saturday. I ended up picking something out and while it is adorable, Jackie had no interest in what I was buying. She was too busy looking at toys.
When we left the store, this chicken head, I dont know what her problem was, swiveled her head around like Linda Blair and glared at Lisa. It was so obvious she was trying to intimidate her. I dont know what that was for! It was so ghetto. Lisa and I concluded that her man mustve been giving Lisa the happy eye and his chic didnt like it.
Look girls, if your man is giving me the eye, and Im not aware of it, and certainly if Ive not done anything to return the eye, then you dont need to be giving me the evil eye.
Mkay?
I told Lisa that she looked like she wanted to start something. Weve got 2 7 year-olds in the car! How ignorant can you be?
Dear chicken head: Girl, if your man cant control himself, how about you get rid of him? Or, instead of taking it out on other females that have nothing to do with you, why dont you smack him in the back of the head when he misbehaves? Dont bother me with that crap. I dont have the time.
And by the way, both of you are ugly! You belong together!
Missy
I dont even remember what we watched when we got back to the house. I do remember that my neighbor Kylie popped in and said hello.
Saturday, I steam cleaned my carpets in the living room and in the dining room. I went through 4 gallons of water. The dirty water was black and disgusting. Last time I cleaned my carpets was when Iris still lived at the complex. When she moved, she took the Bissell ProHeat that we had bought together. I guess she felt it was payment for watching Jackie for that last week.
Since changing my phone number, it seems quieter around the house. Oh, crap, I forgot to call my sister in Italy this weekend. I feel bad. I was supposed to call her and catch her up on everything. The only problem, is that I have to add 7 hours to my time to figure out what time it is over there.
Crap.
I never thought Id say it, but I miss Melinda calling me. I sure do.
I missed Charmed last night. I never miss that show. All I kept seeing on WB11 was that Summerland show. I was in the twilight zone. I was so mad.
Tonight is American Idol! I dont care what anyone says, I love Janay, and Aloha, and that pretty blonde farm girl. When Janay sings, the hair on my arms sticks up. I can so relate to her.
As far as the men, I like the black guy with the braids, and the guy from STL, Ozzy Smiths son. Oh, and Bo Bice. Die Constantine, Die!! You stink! You reek! Go back to the Mosh Pit. Off with your head!
Okay, so I may have jumped the gun about that journalist. My aunt, who is taking care of Grandmas dog while shes in the hospital, found a note from a Katrina Lindquist. Seems shes one of the journalist colleagues. She left a note explaining who she is and what her class is doing. The story is starting to check out. I feel dumb.
Now, for the weirdness. My case came up in their Criminal Justice class. Thats right. My mothers murder and my near death is in a book that these students read for class at the University of Columbia in Missouri.
I dont know what the draw is. I dont know if it was the large amount of circumstantial evidence, his failed lie detector, his disappearing alibi, or the fact that much of the case rested on the testimony of a traumatized 7-year-old little girl. Me.
Im trying to get my aunt to give me the girls number, but shes not got back to me with it yet.
I may talk to the students. Ill probably do it on videotape if I do. I cant see facing 100 students or more and talking about my case. I just cant. Id probably cry.
If I can help them learn what devastation violent crime wreaks on families, I will.
