I love the holidays. This is my favorite time of year.
After work on Wednesday, I beat it out of work and went straight to Macarthurs Bakery to buy the pies for Mas Thanksgiving Dinner. They were actually cheaper than Dennys, and when I tasted them I KNEW they were better quality.
After Macarthurs, I went to the mall to buy gifts.
I was in the midst of a winter storm, which made everything more difficult. It was 30 degrees, snowing and the wind was blowing like a mother.
I almost went back to my car twice, but I knew that if I did Id end up going into the mall in December, which is something I am loathe to do since I hate crowds.
I pressed on, and eventually I was inside. I went straight to Yankee Candle and bought like, 60 or 70 tarts and a tart burner. I had already bought the other tart burners online, since they were cheaper. My total was $88.00. I almost died.
Next, I went two stores down to Bath and Body Works. I bought 3 of their anti-bacterial hand washes, 3 hand sanitizers, and a bottle of manly body wash and body spray for Max. Hes into smelling manly right now, which I think is cute.
I had a $10.00 gift card, so my total was $32.00.
After that, I headed over to Best Buy to get Jackie the new Harry Potter movie. While there, I also grabbed the soundtrack to Night at the Roxbury and the movies Labyrinth and Stand By Me.
I went home to see Jackie. Her and Max had an early dismissal from school, so Jackie was at Tonis house.
Jackie had to watch Harry Potter again so we put that in, and I just vegged and watched the movie. I love it.
After a while it occurred to me that I was hungry, so we decided to go to Subway for dinner. I got a Seafood and Crab sub, and Jackie had a BLT.
After we went to Subway, we went to TJ Maxx. I had planned to buy the foaming hand soap for some people on my list, but there was none. So, instead I bought some really nice hand soap, with fragrances like White Almond, and White Tea, and Lavender. I also bought myself a new scarf, earmuffs and gloves.
And like I do every year, I bought four new Christmas ornaments. A snowman, a Santa, and two frosted globes with blue berries on them.
Im still tempted to get Kevin this huge hot pink and black stocking. Hed get a kick out of that.
We went home and started watching Labyrinth. I love that movie. Hell, I love David Bowie! He was a fine, fine man. The story itself is a little farfetched, but so is Harry Potter, so why not get lost in the movie?
We go to sleep around 10:45 p.m.
Thanksgiving day, I got up about 10:00. While eating breakfast, we started watching Stand By Me. Well, hell, this is not a movie well be watching often because of all of the curse words. Its not appropriate for young kids. I had forgotten about the cursing. I was praying Jackie wasnt picking up these words to add to her arsenal.
Shes sneaky like that.
At noon or so, me and Ms. Toni and Max and Jackie piled into my car to go to my moms house. I let Toni drive since we were on the highway and I do not do highways in St. Louis.
We got there about 20 minutes till 1.
We had a nice time at Mas. There wasnt many of us. It was Jackie, Toni, Max, Uncle Rick, Mom, Grandma, and I. I guess Maggie and Mike were at his familys house, and little Mikey wasnt there either, so Jackie and Max only had each other.
Unfortunately, Jackie decided to rub her face on the dog, so we had to give her benadryl instantly, before her face blew up in welts like it did last time.
She fell asleep on the couch. Poor baby.
What I was thinking about yesterday was the fact that I miss living near my mom. I wouldnt be opposed to sometime moving back to Florissant. The main reason I moved to South County was to be near Rene. Since Rene and I have grown apart, the point is sort of moot now.
I would have to drive far to see Lisa, but that would be okay, Id still come to see her and go out with her. Lisa would be the only thing Id miss about South County.
Who knows what my future holds?
After Mas, we went to Ms. Terrys house. She lives about 10 minutes from my mom, in Hazelwood.
Ms. Terrys Aunt Rose and Aunt Bea were there, so we sat around and chatted for a while. Women in Ms. Terrys family are all beautiful. It must be genetic. Each of them are stunning in their own way.
Every time I spend time with Ms Terry, I realize how much I miss her.
As usual, Ms. Terry had cooked an awesome meal (my favorite being her ham), but we were full so she packed us up some plates of food. We visited for about 1- hours and we had to get going because it was getting dark. I hate driving at night time.
All in all, we had a great day.

I did not buy for my birth mothers side of the family this year, but I still have time to do so if I want. I dont think were exchanging gifts this year, so I dont want to make anyone feel bad by buying gifts. L I dont think people were delighted last year when I sprung Christmas gifts on them.
