My child support check came Thursday. I was super pissed when I looked at the postmark and it was dated November 15th. Jerk.
I had a really good time at my cousins house.
Big Jacq and Tommy picked us up around 7:45 Thursday night. The ride on the highway wasnt very long and we talked a lot so there wasnt any silence. Of course, little Jackie, my Jackie, piped up with some of her wacky comments so that just added some variety to it all.
Their house is in OFallon. It seemed Jacq was almost embarrassed to be living in a mobile home. Well, its a lovely home, and its in a good neighborhood. You can either live in a lovely home or try to buy one of the outrageously expensive brick homes in OFallon. Geez. The smallest places in OFallon start at $115,000. Not cheap.
When we got there, Uncle Larry was home. Uncle Larry has been staying with my cousin since he moved out of Aunt Abbys house. After talking to him a few minutes I can see he looks better and is a lot happier than Ive ever seen him.
Jacq and Tom have a new puppy. His name is Lil Bear and he is a Pomeranian. Whats really cute is that the dog PRANCES! He really does. Its just like the prancing you see at dog shows.
Jacq is awesome. Shes so domesticated. I admire a woman who cooks from scratch, and she almost always does. Ive never tasted anything she cooked that tasted bad. Its a weekly occurrence at my house because I just dont cook well.
She popped a pizza, called Freshetta, in the oven and we settled down to watch Elf. Its a really cute movie. Little Jackie fell asleep so she missed most of it.
After the movie was over, they retired to their bedroom and I happily made myself comfortable on the comfy couch. Jackie was sleeping on the sofa.
We slept until 10:00 on Friday morning. Gosh, I didnt know I was that tired! Little Jackie woke up right after me, and big Jacq woke up soon after.
Something told me to call the bank and thats when I found out that Shaynes check had cleared. I couldnt believe it cleared so fast!
She got started on the cleaning, and Jackie and I went to the Laundromat to sit with her comforters that were being washed. While we were gone, Jacq got a lot done.
Jacq made some chili and put it in the crock-pot.
When we got back from the Laundromat, we decided that we wanted to go to Marshalls. It was about 10 minutes from her house. Well, it turns out Marshalls has merged with Home Goods, which is another store I wanted to go to, and I got some good deals. If I wouldve just gotten my paycheck, I couldve got some cute stuff, but thats okay.
When we got home, we ate some of that good chili and waited for Nicole and Corey to get here. They were driving in from Tennessee and would be there any time now.
We watched Riddick. I didnt really care for the movie, but SCI-FI, dreary futuristic movies depress me. How embarrassing, but true.
Nicole and Corey got there about halfway through the movie.
I was super tired again, and maybe thats why I didnt like the movie. I felt like it was never going to end.
Corey forgot the pump for their air mattress, so he had to blow it up by hand. Oh, my lord! Thats nuts.
I got more tired just looking at the guy.
Well, I was a little wound up for some reason. I had a nightmare that night where I woke up screaming. I was talking about Jackie too.
I havent done that in a long time.
Saturday we woke up at 10 again. It took me some time to get moving. Jacq had made a breakfast casserole, made with hash browns, eggs, bacon and onions. It was delicious. We had that along with biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
I tried to be of some help without getting in Jacqs way. I hate it when someone gets in my way when Im trying to get something done.
By 2:00, all the family was there, except Uncle Nat and Aunt Lori, who chose not to come. There was my Grandma, my Aunt Abby, my uncle Dan, my cousin Danielle, Nicole and Corey, my cousin Jeff, his wife Leslie, their baby Jackson, Tommy and Jacq, Tommys sister Lisa, Uncle Larry and little Jackie.
We had a full house. And Jacq made a fantastic spread of food. There was turkey, ham, mashed potatos and gravy, corn, green beans and bacon, potato salad, deviled eggs, candied yams, cranberry, and pumpkin pie. It was all delicious.
The family seemed fine, but there was some underlying weirdness with my Uncle Larry and Aunt Abby. Divorce is imminent, but Im pretty sure she wont sign the papers, until shes served, since she doesnt believe in divorce.
I was a little uncomfortable because I was sitting by Abby for a while, and she seemed to focus her energy on me, giving me a total backrub. I felt bad for her, but I love him too.
It was strange.
I started to get tired.
After we were all done with dinner I sat next to Grandma. We didnt even really talk, but do we need to? After all, for the past two years Ive been to her house almost every weekend.
We dont have much to talk about anymore.
I didnt want to come home Saturday. I had such a good time with Jacq and Tom. I really have missed them. They are two of the most unique people I have ever met, and each one of them is dear to my heart in their own way.
When I got home, I checked my caller ID as soon as I came in and I noticed that my adopted mom had called 3 times while I was gone. Each time, she sounded anxious and wanted me to call her back right away. I listened to my messages and it turns out she wants me to bring pies for OUR Thanksgiving on Thursday.
She probably thought I was giving her the slip.
I was too tired to call her. I settle down to watch Cops and Americas Most Wanted.
Sunday, I woke up around 9:00 a.m. I knew I wasnt going to Grandmas because Id spent the last 3 Sundays going to her house.
Jackie and I watched some boring Sunday morning television while we waited for Max to come down.
The day was filled with activity. We watched two movies, we went to do laundry, and I cleaned the guinea pigs cage. Boy, is she nasty!
The evening ended with me talking to my mom, talking to Rene (who just finished a marathon in Philadelphia) and me watching Charmed.
All in all, I had a very busy but fun 3-day weekend.
