As usual, we had a very busy weekend. Friday was a long day for me. I tossed and turned the whole night before and I paid for it. I spent the whole day yawning and blinking blearily.
After work I picked Jackie up from school and Id already told her that our plans for the night were to sit and watch movies. Thats what we did. I let her open one of her Christmas gifts early so she picked the Goosebumps Welcome to the Dead House movie. She was thrilled!
I know what Ill be buying her for birthdays and Christmas.
Saturday we had plans with Salsalita and Jake. Im glad we didnt tell the kids we had planned to take them to see The
Polar Express because unfortunately, Id overspent when I went Christmas shopping. I had like, $25.00 or so to spend for the next couple of weeks. That wouldnt go far for a day of fun at the movies.
So, we sat around and chatted for a while.
We then decided to go out to eat. Bob Evans isnt my favorite place but 1) its cheap and 2)they got a big selection on the kids menu. Even though our waitress forgot a lot of stuff, the food was good and hot.
I was rather impressed with my Cajun grilled catfish. Yum.
As usual, Lisa instigated by blowing pepper into the air and by shooting paper balls across the table.
You cant take that girl ANYWHERE!
After we left there, we went back to Lisa and Dougs apartment. Shes really made it homey. I admire that since I dont have any decorating sense.
I was watching Jackie to see if she had any allergic reaction to Lisas cats. I never know if Jackie is going to be allergic to a cat.
She seemed fine.
But when we got home Lisa noticed Jackie had red welts on her face, which is a telltale sign of an immediate allergic reaction. I ushered Jackie in the house and made her take a teaspoon of Benadryl.
She was not a happy camper. She hates that crap. Besides tasting nasty, it makes you all tired.
Jackie does not do tired well.
Saturday night, Lisa and I had plans to go out and go down to the Lacledes Landing. But as the weekend went on she didnt have a good feeling about it so we didnt go. Sometimes that just happens. I understand.
So, I was feeling a little bummed about that and while I was sitting there watching Americas Most Wanted Rene called me and asked me if I wanted to go for a ride.
About that time, Jackie came out of her Benadryl induced stupor and told me she didnt want to spend the night at Romys. I wasnt going to make her.
So, Rene came and got us. Gosh, I miss him. Lord, I know that hes not ever going to want to marry me. I accept this. However, comma, I miss the closeness that we used to have. Hes so wrapped up in the Castles, and his godson. Plus, of course, his godsons mother, Lamey, always has jobs and errands for Rene to do.
I miss him.
The only time I get kissed on the mouth is by a man with the sex-drive of a dead fish. Im so lucky.
I wanted to check out downtown and the riverfront. So, we drove down to the riverfront. It is EXTREMELY well lit and I noticed a lot of police down there. Its not bad like it was 10 years ago. I swear, Lisa. I think we should go down there in the daytime sometime so you can see for yourself. Maybe we could take the kids to the Hard Rock Caf sometime.
Then, I wanted to check out the clubs on Washington. There used to be this club called Fallout on Washington in the alley. It turns out its not there anymore but theyve built some really neat cafs and bookstores on Washington Street itself. I know theres some nightclubs like Velvet on Washington. I just have to find them.
After we toured downtown we stopped at White Castle for some grub.
We went home and watched Saturday Night Live. Of course, Rene did not spend the night, he went home right after it was over.
Sunday I DID NOT want to go to my Grandmas. Unfortunately, she called me Saturday and sounded really sad and sick so I felt like I had to go. I swear to God Im not going next weekend.
I need a break. All this family togetherness cant be good.
I picked up food for Grandma and me and I headed down to her house. I got myself a chicken fajita pita (which turned out to be really tasty) and I got her an extreme sausage sandwich (which she acted like Id never picked it up for her before and she complained incessantly that it was too big).
I only stayed for an hour. I ate and then cleaned her house.
Then, I went home and sorted my laundry.
I went to do laundry at the place where Laura works. She didnt show up until I was almost done, and I couldnt stay to chat.
After all the activity of the day, I was pooped. I had wanted to get the living room cleaned up and the Christmas tree put up, but instead I watched Spaceballs and later, Charmed. I was good for nothin.
I am so excited about this week. Thursday night Jackie and I are leaving and we are going to cousin Jackies for a few days. Our family Thanksgiving is Saturday the 20th, so what better time to go and hang out with my cousin?
I am excited about our get together. Even though we are dealing with lots of drama within the family, I think we can all be nice and loving and civil to one another.
Hopefully.
Maybe.
We can dream..
