Ive been so depressed about my finances lately. On Tuesday, $1,300 is going to drop into my bank account. I am already in arrears for $292.00 (thank God for overdraft protection..)from when I paid my rent last week.
Thats going to leave me with $1,000. My final car payment check, plus late fees is $762.00, is going to come out any day now. That leaves me with around $240.00. Except now, $170.00 for two weeks of day care is coming out of that. Thats going to leave me with $70.00 for food, gas, and incidentals until the 18th of August, when hopefully my child support will come.
I wont get my next paycheck until the 25th of August. Out of that will come my rent, my partial phone, my partial electric, some money for Mr. Sweatpants to pay him back, and childcare. And somehow I have to fit in school clothes and school supplies.
On the 10th of September I will have a good paycheck. I will pay the remaining balances on my phone, electric and property tax for my car.
It will be another month until I can start paying all my outstanding bills and begin to straighten up my credit report.
Thank God for good friends. Without them I think I wouldve been even more depressed. Saturday morning my mom and Aunt Ruth Ann stopped by on their way to Branson and took me, Jackie and Dax to breakfast at Ginghams, a little hometown restaurant by my house. After that they left and we went back home. I was very tired, even though Id slept 10 hours the night before, and I fell asleep about 1:30 p.m. in the middle of Ernest Goes to the Army and woke up in the middle of Snoopers.
I did a little housework. Fun fun for everyone.
Romy came home and we immediately left for Shake and Steak. She treated us all to dinner. As usual, it was great food.
After dinner we came home and went to our new neighbor Muffys house. Muffy and Willie just had a baby last week. The baby was born early at 34 weeks and weighed 4 pounds, 14 oz. She was so tiny! I was in love. I love babies.
Romy and I agree that well be doing some babysitting.
Sunday, Mr. Sweatpants dropped by and guiltily handed me a couple extra bucks so I could take the kids to McDonalds. He then brought up Strauessenfest, a festival that was supposed to be going on downtown. He wanted to take Jackie and me later on that day.
I was so excited to be getting my mind off money.
The kids were getting restless so I told them we were going to McDonalds and loaded them up in the car. It was hot but I only had a tank of gas so no air conditioner. As we were heading to get lunch I asked them if theyd like to go to the park.
They enthusiastically said yes, so we got the food in the drive through. I drove to Sylvan Springs while listening to them chatter like monkeys in the backseat.
The playground wasnt that busy, so I just relaxed on a bench while the kids ran around to the slide and the tire swing. Then they decided to bury Jackie in gravel. Once Jackie was done, Max got buried too.
We were having fun but a swarm of wasps decided to rain on our parade so we hurried up and gathered our stuff before we could get stung.
I needed gerbil food so I asked the kids if they wanted to go to the Pet Store, which is PetSmart. I love Petsmart and will be a loyal customer from now on.
Heres why: Im on a budget, but my critters must be fed. So, I head on over to the gerbil and rat aisle looking for some food prices at about $3.00.
Im looking, and the kids are 10 feet away looking at parrots. I was astounded to see a five-pound bag of gerbil food for $1.99 with the Petsmart card. I knew that was a steal, so I snatched up the last bag and joined the kids.
When I got to the checkout the really nice girl totaled my order, which was the bag only, and said, $5.29.
I said, Oh no. There was a sign under it that said it was $1.99 I told her.
She nicely asked me to show her where I got it. The kids and I walked back with the lady and I showed her the shelf I got it on.
She said, Well, it looks like someone moved it over to that spot, but it doesnt have the same UPC on the price tag as on the bag. However, we will give it to you for that price. Twice in one day PetSmart shocked me.
I thanked her profusely, thinking, she had no idea how desperately I needed gerbil food. I mean, I had them eating puffed wheat cereal for the last day or so.
The kids wanted to go look at the cats for adoption so we did that, and then we left.
Im now remembering what Mr. Sweatpants said about Straussenfest, so I decide to go ahead and get my laundry done in the afternoon, thinking I wouldnt have time after we went to the festival.
When we got home, we cooled off for a little while. Then, I sorted out the laundry and convinced the kids theyd have a great time playing at the playground (which is right across from the laundry) while I tended to the clothes.
After a while it occurred to me that it must be close to five oclock, which was the time when Romy would be done at her second job and heading home. Dax parked himself in front of the pool and watched the road for his moms car.
It was very hot in the laundry so I haphazardly folded the clothes and threw them in the basket.
I was out of there.
About the time I was taking the basket of clothes to the car, Romy drove up.
When I got home I got ready to go out with Rene. Only, I waited two hours and he never showed up.
At 7:55 p.m., he called me. He told me hed went to play with his Godson, hed laid down, hed done laundry and ironed his clothes, and now he was just relaxing and watching Charmed, which, by the way, was a re-run.
I was so mad. I hadnt even eaten dinner because Id been waiting for him. Another broken plan wed made. Why am I surprised? He always makes plans with me and breaks them.
